One click — no files to download
When new firmware is ready we will email you to let you know. There is nothing to download, install, or keep track of: just come back to this page, click Update my PianoHack, and pick your device. The new firmware is sent straight to your hardware — it typically takes less than 60 seconds.
Before you begin
- Browser compatibility: please use Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge. Other browsers do not currently support web-based hardware updates.
- Cable check: use a USB-C cable capable of data transfer — the one included with your unit is perfect.
Step-by-step
- Connect
Plug the USB-C cable into the LEFT port of your PianoHack and into your computer.
- Click update
Click the button below to start the process.
- Pair
In the pop-up window, select your device from the list — it usually appears as “USB Serial”, “CP210x” or “ESP32-S3” — and click Connect.
- Flash
The browser sends the new firmware to your device. This typically takes less than 60 seconds. Keep the tab open until it reaches 100% — your PianoHack reboots automatically.
Checking for available firmware…

Your PianoHack is running the current firmware. We will email you the moment a new version is ready — then come back to this page and update in one click.
If something does not work
Device not found?
Ensure the cable is in the LEFT USB-C port. The right port is for MIDI/power and will not allow programming. Also check your cable carries data, not just power.
Connection failed?
Close other programs that might be using MIDI or serial ports — like the Arduino IDE or your MIDI DAW software — and try again.
Mac users
If the device does not appear, ensure you have the CH34x drivers installed and allowed in your Privacy & Security settings.
